The New Quarantine Life

Image
21 st September, Day 3, Semester 5! It has been over 6 months since our lives stopped – But not exactly. February 29 th , 2020, the government of Pakistan announced shutting down of all educational institutions of Pakistan. This meant a long never ending holiday for me! Yaay! This was the first time ever I was staying at home with nothing due. I wasn’t supposed to go anywhere, I didn’t have any assignments due, and most importantly I didn’t have to leave the comfort of my bed! Best days of my life had just started. Two weeks later, my university announced the commencement of online classes. Our attendance policy was relaxed, so we all laughed! The fun had already begun. Managed through the rest of the semester online with dozing off in half of my 10 am classes while taking the rest of the classes in every possible room at my home – even the rest rooms. One month down and the fun had started to fade. All the food eateries were shut down and there was a weird tension created aro

The Importance of Staying Positive!

Image
I am sure we have all had times where we felt like banging our heads on the wall, and it simply seemed impossible to stay positive in difficult situations. Be it not getting the permission to attend a friend’s birthday party or having a friend turn her back around you, situations like these deem impossible to think positive and hence, we rather start finding fault in ourselves. Every time I feel down or go through any problems, I’ve heard my dad saying ‘’think positive!’’. Not only did I find his words repetitive, I never bothered to pay attention to whatever he said. Mostly because I knew it never really helped and wasn’t effective. I mean, how can staying positive fix things, right? But in reality, this isn’t how life works, and staying positive, can do wonder! Such are the times when we really need to pull ourselves together and stay positive! But how’d I define staying positive as? Positive thinking is an attitude that drives you to anticipate good and desired outcomes. Pos

How to improve your freestyle writing skills

I’m often asked that what motivated me to write. How I found myself scribbling into words that sometimes did not even make any sense or how I would randomly pick up my phone and start typing; the muse that I couldn’t afford losing.   Writing to me is like a way of expression - A feeling you get after indulging yourself into words, where slowly it starts to make just the right sense. Or maybe, writing allows me to fly; freely like a bird, chirping.   Flying into the invisible where I don’t find any limit. A place where I speak and scream but there’s no one to shut me out – it’s that beautiful feeling of being empowered. Another question I am asked is if I ever feel vulnerable and judged? And honestly, sure I do. It sometimes feel like I’m exposing a part of myself that is just hidden behind a few rhyming rhetorical words, but I strongly believe freedom comes with expression. Writing is Art. And I kid you not, some people won’t understand art unless they put some part of themselve
